Starting it off this week with my newest acquisition. Went to our local flea market, and there's a guy there that deals mainly in die-cast. Saw this lonely Model Power box sitting there.
Brand new, never Run 0-4-0 "Fat Boy" in Dickens Railroad colours. She runs great. Shows absolutely no track-use at all.
$10.00!

My LOTW is one of my 4-4-0 Mantua General Franklin FY&P #88 locomotives...
I have this one posted for sale. Tax man came and apparently I need to raise some cash to cover this years taxes. Needless to say, the wife is pretty pissed off at me. Being a state employee, she has never owed taxes at the end of the year!

Got this last year, haven't got around to opening it yet. From a model rail estate I helped liquidate. It does not appear to be vintage as such, apparently Mantua, or its parent company did a re-run? I plan for a 3.5 x 3.5 layout for this one, and some other 1880 things...

Oh, Mantua actually separated from Tyco again in the mid to late 70's, and continued to produce trains until it was bought by Model Ppwer in 2002ish. That loco you have there is most likely from the mid to late 80's, based on that box. The 70's to mid 80's Mantua boxes were yellow and orange, the mid to late 80's Mantua boxes were blue, and the 90's Mantua boxes were red. I have that exact engine you have there; excellent runner once you get it lubed!

They are Varney, circa 1962-4 iirc. They are pretty scarce and were also offered in Florida East Coast, Missouri Pacific, NYC as shown, Union Pacific, Great Northern I believe and I think there was one other roadname. These tended to suffer from zinc pest and consequently many were broken and trashed. They make for a colorful lineup.
