Hey Guys:
I was looking at a thread on a Whistle Stop Forum I got bounced to. It was a Locomotive of the week topic.
Thought maybe we could try this here on the Tyco forum but not just our Tyco's.
One engine per week per member. You add a picture and maybe a little blurb about the model, its history or maybe the Prototype it represents?
Anyway, Maybe a special Thread section for this, Administrator-Todd??? Maybe a "sticky"???
Just putting it out there???
And here's my Pebble in the pond contribution:

This is a Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 Consolidation Based "Camelback". Kitbashed by a now dead Professional modelor. He did a great job of relocating the cab. It is the only steamer in my collection, and it runs beautifully on even terrible track!

I like the idea...be interesting to see what's out there. That camelback is a beauty.
My first up is a bad online purchase rebuilt. I don't believe the guy was trying to rip me off. I bought it from a disabled vet who packed it like it was a rock. It banged around the box all the way across the country. When it got to me, I found the tender was a late 90s issue hooked up to a late 60s locomotive. After several hours of rocking in a corner in a fetal position, sobbing and sucking my thumb, I set about to repair it. Finding an era specific tender was a fruitless effort as they go for way more than I was willing to part with. In the end, to match them up, I opted to do what I normally wouldn't with my Rivarossi fleet and weathered it with pastels and water based craft paint found at Wal-Mart, sealed with Krylon Matte Finish. It's decoder equipped, runs great and is now a crowd favorite at shows and open houses.

I don't know a whole lot about this piece. I posted it here a few months back and got some awnsers. This is a Fleischmann E-69 Steeple Cab. Made in the 60's in Western Germany. The engine is # 1302 R (red). A 1302 G (green) was also made. It is dressed for GFR (german federal railways). Pantagraph on roof can be raised and lowered. No operating headlights.

Thanks, Gareth. It's a Union Pacific 4-8-8-4 "Big Boy", built in the '40s by Alco. It is a simple articulated, using high pressure steam in both the front and rear engines.
A mallet uses high pressure steam in the rear engine, then passes it forward to the front engine. The pressure drops during this, requiring the use of larger cylinders in the front. Maintenance headaches and low speeds made this not a very popular loco. The N&W 2-8-8-2s are the most easily recognizable ones.
In both cases, the rear engine is fixed (or rigid) under the boiler, the front engine is designed to swing out from underneath on curves. Models like mine tend to flex both engines for the tighter curves we have.

Hi Todd:
OK, so can we make it a Sticky or a category? I suggest Sunday as the rollover day and I'll post a new locomotive each week and we can go from there, or someone else can!? How best to do this?
I think category would be bext because it would favour categorizing, as in; "I was away last week lets see last weeks, Locee's!" Any thoughts people?

Oh... I'm afraid to count the number of locos I have. I'd be committed. And the other problem is choosing "just one"!
I just need to finish some stuff before I start digging, shooting, and writing stuff ya'll haven't seen before...
I did just find that Varney post. Very neat! Didn't realize it had a battery tube. And probably still a better set than those flimsy "dollar store" sets too...

Yeah but think of it GIC:
A) You put up one a week so it reduces some of the stress of deciding AND
B) To continue to add something each week without duplicating WELL, You'll have to buy MORE!!!!!!!![:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D]

This originally had the Tyco open frame motor in the loco. I made a mount for the worm and installed a can motor.

I have a locomotive made by Liliputt. It is a 4-6-0... 10 wheeler.
But what makes this 10-wheeler different is the number on it. #383882
Someone told me that it meant : Locomotive Class 38: Locomotive Number 3882
It has an unusual front molded/moulded dummy coupler that is solid with the pilot. The tender has a sheet of cardboard with sharp fine gravel (as coal), the tender has also been extended. The tender also has a "close coupling" sprung drawbar. The face (smokebox) is totally European/UK with a blank/solid headlight. The cab also looks a bit European. The only present photo I have it in also has a portion of my other locomotives.
I will attempt to attach it... I do not know how to make it smaller. didn't work...[V]
Middle steam locomotive, fifth from bottom, between my TYCO/MANTUA GN F-9 and Athearn Special Edition "Falcon Service" C&NW SD40-2's
Mr. Moderator, you may manipulate the picture to save space. ... would anyone mind converting my picture if I emailed it to you?
Thank you... good topic idea.
John
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0113' Script timed out /tyco/forum/uploadengine.asp The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools.
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
