 A Mantua Alco grinding up a 1.5% grade at the El Paso Model Train Club. Formerly a junk box Wall Queen, it was resurrected to revenue status after some advice from TFer's.

For this week's LOTW, I'm gonna post my Mantua Shark B unit that's powered, what a wonderful find at the local train show. Been keeping my eyes out for a Shark B unit, they're hard to find, I found a plastic beat-up shell last year at the Timonium show, and bought that, but this one is a Tyco to boot, and will match up with my Tyco metal sharks fabulously. Now to just strip and repaint it to match one of them.

I am beginning to think Top Train has one of the premiere Marx collections, ever. I really like those chunky, pre-Tyco lines. That tender...did it actually come with that switcher?? It appears to be as long, or longer, than the locomotive.

Intermountain FP7. The quality is a bit shady IMO and it will be the last of their models that I will buy.

Great locos everyone!
Bachmann 2-8-0 NYC #1477 Pulling away from the station. It has keepalive, DCC sound, a custom new LED highlight, as well as numerous details added/restored.
Here's my 2nd attempt at photoshop: I only added in the smoke/steam, nothing else.

If I can't fix it, I can fix it so it can't be fixed.

I took this picture after I repasted the snow plow and installed the DCC decoder. It ran but rather terrible. Shortly thereafter, the nuber board fell off. Also if you look at the metal grilled vents, they look as if they were pasted on by a 2nd grader. Very shady work. I have heard this is a probelm with Intermountain locos although the other 2 I have run great.

It's a nice little model! The engine is a side tank oil burner though, It never would have had a tender.

Hi Ken ;
* Well as you see this locomotive, it was made and sold. It was also sold as just a 0-4-0t without the tender. Marx was a US toy manufacture. Made toys. It made some of the best ho trains sets in the 1960's, though they were toys. That is why so many of their set are still around today. They resisted derailing when pushed in reverse. What did this was the loop that surrounded the coupler. They were cheep to buy. Here is my Santa Fe mark 0-4-0 which is the same as the NYC 0-4-0t switcher. They did the same for their Western Pacific 0-4-0 and their New Haven 0-4-0. It is not their fault that they made long lasting, good running toy trains. It is their accomplishment.
