I recently came into possession of a Penn Line GG1. It's in very good condition, but the only problem with it is that it's missing both pantographs. Anybody know if AHM's pantographs are interchangeable, or know of somebody who makes pantographs that will fit it? Thanks.

I might have an extra set of GG1 pantographs from a Tyco.
U want 'em?

I would but I am pretty sure they are smaller than the actual ones used on the Penn Line. The Penn Line model is a lot closer to scale, therefore being longer and bigger than the Tyco. Thanks for the offer though.

Actually it is the other way around. The holes for mounting the Tyco one are spread further apart. Making the pantograph longer and larger.

The all knowing toptrain speaks again! I have the actual mounts (the white plastic pieces) do you think I can make the Tyco ones fit on top of them?

I don't have my photos anymore. I just remember that the Penn-Line/Varney locomotive in its metal casting has a location holes for those insulators. The frame of the Tyco pantograph has a plastic frame with the insulators cast on to it already. Front to back they are to long. Prototypically some of the Pennsy GG1's were converted to the newer single wiper overhead pick up. Like the E60CP has. Pennsy had a few GG1's running around with one standard pantograph and one on the new type. They were a test bed for the new metro liners and their way of overhead pickup.
* Well I went and made photos for you. Tyco won't work on Penn Line.

Oh well it is worth a shot. Thanks for the picture by the way. I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled for Penn Line parts.

Is it Varney or Penn Line?
On Varney kits the holes for the insulators drilled wrong! Thats why there are so many without pantographs!
And it was a big problem for Varney!
