Swapping out some PT motors for MU 2 trucks. One piece has an MU 2
truck, but one of the flanges is chipped and derails. The motor works
fine, but the gears appear to have loosened up badly, as well. May try
to remove those rivets and see if they can be adjusted, but does not
look hopeful. Hate to sacrifice the motor, but it may become a parts MU.

This MU was a little more involved than originally thought. Turned out the gear cover
wasn't held on by rivets, but rather held in place by the motor magnet! While I had
it off I replaced the chipped wheel with another one, found it to be an easy press fit.
Had two long bolts on hand, so I tapped out the rivets and replaced one side, only
to find the other bolt was just a micrometer too short. So, having nothing else on
hand, I soldered it in! Works fine.
Not a bad day's work!

All said and done, I was able to salvage one MU I thought was broke, and replaced
three all together. I salvaged the worm gear and from an AHM with a bad bearing
and used it to fire up the NH C Liner, and swapped in a motor from the junk box
too boot. Works great. New traction tires, also. Goody's Hair Bands. Finally, I took PC
shell from the junked C Liner and was able to trim a Bachmann chassis down and
fit on reasonably
well.
