I finished this over the weekend..... This was a NJ Transit fantasy freight engine. But I love the electric engines so, it was on my list to do one. Conrail and PC did use these to haul freight cars......

This was an American GK undecorated engine. The small detail parts like the insulators and other electrical detail parts were missing. I made or cannibalized them from a damaged Bachmann E60CP #951 and a few left over parts from the American GK E60CP's I did previously.
I re-did this engine 3 times. The fist two attempts were in a silver/black paint scheme.
The 3m painters tape and other painters tape kept taking the silver paint with it. So for the third try I used the left over grey paint from my NJT INC GG1.

To paint this I spray painted the whole shell with Testor's semi gloss black. I masked off the black area's that weren't going to be grey. I spray the rear with Testor's Mango orange and masked that off. Then I used the grey paint. To get the trim lines perfect I masked off the grey and re-sprayed the black area's. Now can you understand why silver/aluminum paint couldn't be used. After I applied the decals everything was sprayed with my 50/50% formula of Testor's Dullcoat/Glosscoat. The detailed parts were added. All of the railings were spray painted with Mango orange and then coated with Testor's Dullcoat. It also has front/rear directional 2mm LED lighting........ the second to last project is a pair of SP's AC4400 and C44-9 diesels patched to UP. I am working on the final project which will be revealed in a few weeks/months and then I am finished painting......

Beautiful job as always, looks like a high-end production piece - as does all your work. Always enjoy seeing what you have accomplished.

FWIW, I have never been able to mask silver, although I have tried. The tape always takes a bit of the sheen with it. So now silver is always the last layer I apply.....

Thanks Jerry..... One can take the clear coat off of silver/aluminum with clear cellophane tape.... The clear coating just doesn't like to stick to the silver/aluminum. I also use the clear tape to remove decals that don't adhere right.......

Great job on that NJ Transit locomotive. Very nicely done! Love it!

Love those E60CP and E60CF engines! American GK produced a New Haven in each locomotive and each in their own paint (fantacy) scheme. I have multiples of both and really like them. New Haven never ran them either and the railroad went belly-up a few years before they were ever produced.

This is my most recent New Haven pick-up...

Here is the E60CP. As you can see the paint scheme is dramatically different than the E60CF

This PRR I have is custom painted...
