Got a project. Needs a caboose Platform, ladder and rails. Where could I find one? I'm thinking about using aftermarket decals.

I have a spare Athearn BB caboose platform, ladders and brake wheel...If you pay $8 shipping I could give em to you...
I'll post a few pics once I get home.

If I can't fix it, I can fix it so it can't be fixed.

Justin,

That is a really nice car you have there, it deserves proper replacement parts. If you haven't already repaired this car I would recommend that you look for vintage Walthers parts on Ebay. The caboose you have is an old Walthers model from their old Silver Streak line, this particular model is a "Caboose Supply Car" (product #929-806).

To replace the missing parts on your model so that they match the intact end you will need...

Walthers Part # 941-3009 Caboose Platform
Walthers Part # 941-3002 Platform Railing
Walthers Part # 946-435 Brass Ladder Stock
Walthers Part # 946-188 Brass Brake Wheel

Walthers no longer stocks these items but they do show up on Ebay fairly often, with a little time and patience you should be able to procure matching replacements.

There are two other options you may consider...

1). Find a basket case Walthers Silver Streak Caboose on Ebay to salvage the parts you are looking for.

or

2). Purchase an intact caboose kit from Ebay, any caboose kit from the Walthers Silver Streak Line will do.

Good Luck!

I have 8-10 silver streak caboose kits jumbled up in a huge box somewhere. I'm pretty sure there's at least one extra platform and not all 10 cars will probably ever be completed so I'd be happy to share the correct parts if you still need them.

Walthers inherited all these parts from their buyout of Silver Streak in 1975. I believe production ceased some time in the 80s but in more recent times Ye Olde Huff'n'Puff bought all the old Silver Streak/A-C models and is still manufacturing new ones currently. They should have the parts you need on hand also.
