Here's my SOTW. Found for $35 Cdn on Kijiji (kinda like Craigslist). I had to drive an hour to get it, but it was worth it.

Near mint Bachmann Old Timer. Box is kinda beat up and I don't really have space for it. Everything is boxed nicely. Seller said about 30 years old, run a handful of times and "needs a push" to start, which I think was a dirty track issue. Loco runs awesome on my layout.

Those classic American types- "The engine-driver had been
running extra risks in order...to arrive 'on time.' The descent
was thus made with exceptional rapidity. The velocity with
which the train rushed down this incline, and the
suddenness with which it wheeled around the curves,
produced a sensation which cannot be reproduced in
words. The axle-boxes smoked with the friction, and
the odor of burning wood pervaded the cars. The wheels
were nearly red hot. In the darkness of the night they
resembled discs of flame. Glad though all were to reach
Sacramento, not a few were specially thankful to have
reached with whole limbs and unbruised bodies."

"Westward by Rail: The New Route to the East" William
Fraser Rae, 1869.
