I don't recall ever seeing a 1970's Tyco F7A powered by this motor. Does anyone have one? This is from the July 1976 Model Railroader:

Tyco made an F7 in the 70's which contained a version of the 1960's MU-2 but with more plastic. On all the examples I have the flimsy plastic tabs on the trucks have broken. The weight/fuel tank is attached via a single, long screw that threads into a plastic pole in the center of the loco shell. This pole is another weak point and the fuel tanks often break out.
The deluxe engine in the ad you posted I believe more closely resembles the 1960's Tyco units, and the 1970's Mantua units. They do exist.

Interesting bit. Having suffered the PT motor, I can only imagine what the demand sounded like.
