I found this for sale. Owner want's $40 (cdn) and I suspect it would cost about $20 to ship to my location. Looks like a cool power supply. Has anyone ever used one? Does the price seem fair? These were offered as a kit in the 1970's

The ad blurb:
The HeathKit model RP-1065 outputs PWM based speed control for 12 volt DC systems. Also controls accessories, and includes momentum/ramp functions, overload protection, open-circuit and short detection, and control over pulse width and duty to get reliable smooth movement and control at very low speeds.
This classic kit was one of the very first pulse-width based speed controllers on the market and very elaborate for its time, based on the patent that Heathkit filed for the technology.
Original owner, Totally functioning condition. We built this kit in the late 70's.

I remember reading about PWM throttling awhile back, was supposed to be the hot thing. Not sure how it compares to MRC's Pulse control system. I imagine it is a solid, quality power supply. But I have no info on it at all. All I can say is Heathkit products weren't panned or considered garbage, so take that for what it's worth.

I get a charge out of it, too. But seriously, a doctor friend has one, as well. He's still using it. Another nut that has trains in every scale.

Thanks. It has some interesting features such as the "starting voltage", "pulse frequency" and "pulse width" knobs as well as the reverse loop switch.

I bought the power supply. It should arrive in a few days. I can't wait to see it in person!

| I received it the day before yesterday. It's pretty big and heavy! I'm going to try to find an online manual for it and then give it a whirl.
