I once bought a Bachmann Silver Series tank car. When, some years later, I went to disassemble it, I discovered that the tank halves and frame were secured not via a screw but rather via melting the end of the long pin extending down from the top half of the tank shell. I was wondering if they were still doing it that way.

I have only seen that on the tank cars recently. Then again I purchased these at a show so there is no telling if they were new stock or new old stock.
