Starting off this week's COTW, I give you two of these fine Tyco tankers - the standard Coke ( bright red plastic ), and a variation I just found, a darker red. First one like this I've seen. Came in to the train shop in an estate lot, so I snagged it. :)

Are you sure the darker red one is a Tyco and not one of the clones made by other manufacturers? The domes look a bit different.

Those domes do look a little squatter on the dark one. Going-in-Circlez has this to say:
" 357-F: Coca-Cola (cat. 1974-1982) GATX 46212
The only 62TD not “owned” (leased) by a petroleum company, the Coca-Cola tanker also stands out on its own graphical merit and presents a bold contrast to the others in this series. As such, it is among the more popular and sought-after, even though it was cataloged for the longest time, including its notoriety as the only tri-dome offered in the 1980’s.
Like its Union 76 bretheren, the Coca-Cola Tri-Dome shares its graphics and general appearance with a smaller cousin, the #315-L 40’ Tank Car. The swirling band is longer of course, but the overall appearance and theme is very much the same.
1975 catalog image
1974 and 1975 catalogs actually show a sample of this car that is not known to exist in production: instead of the script “Coca-Cola” logo, the car shown has the modern typeset “Coke” logo. As usual, this is assumed to be a pre-production test sample that made the catalog shoot but no further. The pictures are corrected after 1975."
You can see the complete posting in the Forum under his excellent description in the GIC's Corner, subheading of "SNAFU: triple dome tankers," along with photos. Your dark car resembles the color of the pre-production model, but that one only says, "Coke." Very nice variant..

Yes, it's a Tyco. The shelf under the top tanker is blocking off part of the view of the domes, which is why it looks different. But they're the same.

My COTW is an Airfix 12 T box car. I repainted the roof after getting it.

I finally got the trifecta, all three E and H Model Hobbies cars. I had the 50' for a while, but the other two just came into my possession a few weeks ago. I had originally seen them on eBay so I contacted the seller because I had bought from him before and he knew I was a real collector. He agreed to raise the price high enough that only someone who really really wanted to get them would bid. Two days later he lowered it so I could buy them at the original price. Here they are:

Ha, ha, he SHOULD like it, I found it in Baltimore, one of my club members was selling off much of his unwanted collection, and I snagged that Durango streamlined caboose for Ben ( for $5 ). I should have kept it, I've never seen another one like it. :) "If I ever find moar"....LOL! thanks for the credit, Ben.
