Been working mostly on three of the freight cars I got from the train show, a DRWG cylindrical hopper and two of the tyco 3 dome tanker cars that I have built under frame detail for. I hope to post some pictures this weekend of where I stand now on them, waiting on Plano walkway material for them. Question on the tankers should I paint the under frame, ladders etc black or paint them the body color?

| well the way you did The Rock ones looks pretty accurate for before the whole Rock Island was in bankruptcy

The tyco ones are safe, going to leave them as is. The Drgw and UP and the AHM one will get mild weathering. The three tanker cars might get some weathering on the under frames. I have a bunch of other hopper cars that I need to finish up, been siiting for over a year half done.
Also have some others to post this weekend.

Would doing the trucks and brake wheels and putting a bit of dust around the hatches be acceptable? It does of course make sense for billboard cars to be mostly clean and shiny - railroad's being paid to show off that ad, after all.

Did do a bit of rust on the trucks on the billboard ones. Working on putting more weight in all of them, though have to get more lead fishing weights.

Those 3-dome tank cars are vastly improved by the underframe.
