I picked up a Brachs at the Denver show this weekend that has a missing stirrup. I decided to try and restore it and have plenty of doner cars available. I feel like I did a good job getting the new stirrup in place, however it occurs to me that I don't know much about paint. I *think* this is likely a latex-based paint, but that color seems sort of a burnt orange? Would anyone have suggestions on how to approach matching the color? I suppose I could use acrylics, I have a decent selection to mix, but my experience has been that the same color in two different types of paint still stand out.

Well for what it's worth, an acrylic burnt orange is pretty much a dead-ringer, except that it dries in a flat color and I need more of a satin finish. Ah well, from a couple feet away the color is indistinguishable from the rest of the car. Good enough to place with the rest of my collection until I can find one that is legitimately intact.

I would have hit the paint aisle at a good hardware store for the Rustoluem 2X coverage line and see if any of those oranges, or the Krylon sprays, look close on the cap. When on sale they can be had for $3 or so.

I have one with no top and I suspect I will need to paint a Holly top orange to have one for it.
