I received a secondhand lot of six streamlined passenger cars for Christmas. All of them had been fitted with this particular make of knuckle coupler:
 Who made these? What is their intended centering mechanism?

they look a bit like sergent couplers,but could be wrong only a guess
catfordken if you cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel,try turning around

Well, they're not. Not even close. These use coil springs like Kadees do. Someone said they might be early Kadee #4 couplers.

kadee do use similar so he could be correct,these are discontinued now no 4

Hey, Catfordken, where' d you find that neat Coupler ID picture? That's pretty awesome ( not to mention useful ), I"ve saved it for future reference.

If you're wanting to re-use those couplers, they require the Kadee #282 draft gear boxes. Yeah, I did the same on taht photo. However, it does not show the Alexander Link and Pin couplers. They also used the above draft gear boxes. They have the same "stem" as the #4 couplers do.

I actually thought of another, cheaper way to keep them centered. I'm going to see if that works first.
