From the spacing on the domes, I'd guess they were scratch building a camelback
loco. That is just about the right amount of space for a cab.

Ken! Check out this thread!
I think that person was trying to make this:
http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/p/252686/2834303.aspx#2834303

If I can't fix it, I can fix it so it can't be fixed.

It is a sand dome. Presumably it supplied the sand for backing up.

* Hi Ken; it looks like you got a Camelback scratch building project for yourself. A lot is done all ready. It is just waiting for your professional touches to complete. Did the Great Northern have 4-4-0 camelbacks ? They may get one now !
* Good luck and best wishes for a nice clean build. By that I mean no problems.

If the frame and boiler fit pretty well, then go for it. The worst part of the job is already
done for you. That's a nice firebox end the person did.

to me the boiler looks to long for the chassis, looks like it was built for a 4-4-2,ken

my other problem thought is the rear end of boiler is same as front, which we know is wrong, ken
