My LOTW is an Athearn Blue Box GP unit in custom Alaska Railroad livery.

* That is quite a locomotive Sean. I never seen one run only on a shelf. The mantua drives should make it run well.

My new (just won) Tyco 4-6-0 Iron Horse loco. It will need a little work,
but for $35 I couldn't pass it up.

I have to replace the boiler and fix the tender steps, but already have those
parts ready. Another restore project.

I just got this in the post today!

Yup, one of Bachmann's new E-Z App Bluetooth locomotives! Naturally, I went with the BNSF GP35.

Look at that detailing! I believe this is because the Bachmann originally introduced the GP35 as a "Bachmann Plus" diesel locomotive, hance the slightly better-detailed shell than, say, their GP40 or FT diesels. Naturally, it has all-wheel drive, 5-pole can motor with dual flywheels, E-Z Mate Mark II knuckle couplers, and of course, a Bluetooth decoder! It runs really well, even on areas where the track often needs to be cleaned (they say this is a big advantage with Bluetooth locomotives like these.)

Nice GEEP Wiley. Buck Rogers stuff to me. This EZ APP
tolerates dirty track better than most? Someone fill
me in: is there a better DCC decoder out there that
tolerates rail grime better than others???

I'm guessing that the Bluetooth means it doesn't rely solely (if at all) on the rails to carry the command signals.

From what I've read, it looks like the power comes from the track and the control signal comes through the air. You could also carry batteries on a train and control it with Bluetooth technology. Seems like powerful stuff.

Kinda cute-looking, in a way.

Getting this in while I can: my Bachmann F9. It's an older model, with a pancake motor and a snap-on shell.

Hope you don't mind me poking... that's an SDP40. The shell would fit on an SD45. The boxy tail end had the "steam generator" inside. If the tail housed the steam generator and was flaired, it would be a SDP45. But, at the same time the COWL F45/FP45's would be used, if not the trouble-some SD40P cowl/full-bodied ones.

John

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out.
