My LOTW for this week is a Roundhouse (Athearn) 2-6-0 mogul in Chesapeake & Ohio livery.

That's an interesting locomotive George. Is there a manufacturer, or scratch built? Tell us a little about it.

A duo of KCS SD40's pull the 1.5% grade below St. Patrick's Cathedral at the El Paso Model Train Club's layout. I forget who owns these units, but it ain't me. Maybe Moose.

This is a International Model brass import. There were two different types of this model the only difference being the tender trucks.
Baldwin 1876 4-4-0 http://www.hoseeker.net/internationalmodelinc/internationaltsubomi440baldwindiagram.jpg They used a Archbar type of truck on this model.
4-4-0 Old Timer version http://www.hoseeker.net/internationalmodelinc/imp440oldtimediagram.jpg They used a Bettendorf type of truck on this model.
The tender truck was the only difference that I could on these models. The time frame I guesstimate at the early 60's. I plan on restoring it to brass condition to add to my "old timer" brass locomotive collection.

These blueprints are interesting. I wonder if these are the "instructions" that came with the model?

Yes Barry, those are also the instructions. I have one other IMP brass loco and the blueprints are the only paperwork that came with it. I kind of like it that way. It makes the assembly a lot more like you're actually in the building assembling the locomotive.

Dig that Genset SoPac. Next big thing will be working windshield wipers, no doubt.
When the Genset first came out, at least here to Ft. Bliss to move military loads, tanks and Bradleys often, they were riven with technical difficulties. Seems as part of a Federal initiative to lower emissions these were assigned to the Ft. Bliss spurs. Since they didn't work, the old smoke belching Alcos were put back into service. Your tax dollars at work.

That is one seriously boosted booster. Nice to see it has real valve gear (and Walschaerts valve gear at that) instead of just a connecting rod with dummy Allen gear on it

Wow. That kind of setup is normally for the bigger locos. Bet that thing could pull the pyramids off of their foundations.
Think maybe there is gonna be a BTTF4 coming up??

I agree, that is part of the reason I went after it, I really liked that it had valve gear.

I agree, as the details are well thought out and placed well.

Yes Ken, it is busy, but I like it. Real life is sometimes busy. The piping needs to be repaired in a couple places as can be seen, but overall, the concept is solid and makes sense.

Yes, I would not expect to see a feed water heater on such a small locomotive, but I think it is a nice touch. Sorry, I have no clue what a BTTF4 is?
Ultimately, I am thinking of making a 2-4-2 Columbus Suburban out of it. Since both front and rear steps are missing, it is a good candidate. There is already a trailing truck on it, but the wheel set is missing. Just like I had done in the past (and posted on here before) I think adding a new pilot deck and pilot truck may spice it up a little more... Here is what I am referring too:
This is the flickr set I have of the build:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/9977705@N05/sets/72157627595258142
The engine came as a part of this ~$50 purchased lot:
I saw the booster and really wanted it. The Kemtron brass tender was just a bonus! Amazingly it is only missing a couple of the wheels and actually had the front truck as well!

Apparently it is still true that you can find a prototype for anything if you look hard enough. Steel Company of Canada light 0-6-0T with a feedwater heater:

Not sure if any of these used a doghouse tender, but I like it. In reality, I think these would only have been lettered for the Pennsy or Long Island RR. So I need to decide to "keep it real" or do my own thing.
