My LOTW is an H0 scale Athearn Roundhouse 2-6-0 mogul in Chesapeake & Ohio livery. It runs very good, actually.

Thank you. Oh, this thing was made after Horizon Hobbies (the owners of Athearn) bought up Roundhouse, that's why I said that.

Your welcome, Steven, I always enjoy your posts.
Here's an odd bit by Playcraft that Metalsmith1 graciously traded a Johnson Wax loco for me. I haven't had the nerve to power it up yet, but I will soon. I really dig this crazy thing.

A couple weeks back I posted some pictures of a pair of brass SD-9 models that I had found for the grand sum of $20.00. What I actually got was a box of parts but it all looked to be there. Both engines had rubber coupling drives that had long since rotted away but both motors were sound. I cobbled together replacement drivetrains from Athearn parts and now they run strong and smooth if not perhaps a bit loud! I stripped the paint off both engines using a product called Peeler followed by a bath in brake fluid and then pickling in vinegar. a final scrub with baking soda to neutralize everything then a polishing with 3000 grit pads and NOW! They are nearing completion so the question is to paint or not to paint? I am considering Rio Grande but no decision yet. possibly N&W

Oooooh, Rio Grande would be impressive. Truth be told, that "pickled" paint job isn't too bad either. Looks like some of the heaps I've seen.

Got my Johnson Wax Shark from Chops all cleaned up and running. Needed a shot of TV tuner cleaner, two new traction tires , replaced a broken plastic flanged wheel, two new knuckle couplers and a quick scrubbing and touch up with a silver sharpie. Looking fresh and running good! Now I have that JW AA set I was after

Primo! Glad she found such a great home! Sorry, Micro. Had to have that D1600.
By the way, that looks like one honkin' big layout you built there. Where can I find pics of it??

| Look under the layouts section here on the Tyco Forum under my Lincoln Champaign and Peoria layout. You can find the full history there.

My locos for this week are the Bachmann Russian decapods. This is what mine looked like when new. when I was done with them they were backdated to close to original in appearance. frank

| Metal, those SD9's are too gorgious to paint. I'd leave them as they are.

Welcome to sunny Wales.
The Lincoln Champagne and Peoria is a must see, but I could not locate it in the archives. Is there anyway to repost it?

Sorry, I'm just crazy about this D1600. After a little cleaning she came to life beautifully and pulls like a draft horse. Here she is in a meet with a steam excursion.
