The reason I did that was because that was the first flat surface that wasn't full of stuff I could find. It's actually a history book about the Mt. St. Helen eruption of 1980.

Since we're doodling now, I offer my REA Bachmann Spectrum I purchased a few years ago at an antique show, haven't tried it yet actually. Currently stored away.

Gotta put in this little 0-4-0 A3 Shifter by Rivarossi. Just finished rebuilding it from the parts I got in a lot deal. This one had a smoke unit in it and the hand rails on the tender were metal rather than plastic. Think it was a special edition.

The smoke unit no longer works(the previous owner disabled it) and the bulbs have been replaced with warm white leds. The front light is bi-directional and the tender light is set for reverse.

Ken's logger is the toast. Where did you find that critter? Where was the prototype used?
Old Timer, your switcher is fabulous. Those giant light boxes really make this switcher unique. Also, the flag poles on pilot and tender are a great touch. Did you model a specific prototype or is it your own idea? Very nice, either way.

That is not a Rivarossi. It was actually made by Mehano for AHM. Life Like, and I believe Model Power sold these.

Amen to Chops' gushing praise for the Class A climax and the nicely tricked out 0-4-0. I'm enjoying literally all of the engines and doodlebugs posted this week, but for entirely subjective reasons, those two especially caught my eye.
I should add that the craftsmanship on Ray's super detailed Atlantic is downright impressive.

W are on doodlebugs this week so this is my brand X no name DB in service on the LC&P Here is one that I am very excited about! My LOTW is a Tyco Bicentennial of a different sort. It is a Tyco GP-20 painted in the Mopac bicentennial scheme. It still needs a few finishing touches but I just couldn't wait any longer to post it. I had purchased the decals perhaps 15 or more years ago and I finally got around to painting it up. There was a sister unit that goes with it and I have a Walthers Geep waiting in the wings to get the matching paint job.

Really cool Mopac. I'm a sucker for blue trucks.
Mmm, that Atlantic looks fast standing still. It was the "Hemi" of its day. I'd love to see a video of that model with some passenger coaches.
Thank you, Ken, for the data. 19% grades??? Two speed transmission?? I learn every day. Remarkable.
Speaking of economy, one source I read, stated that the main reason that English collier (mine) owners became strongly interested in a coal powered traction unit (either stationary or self-propelled) versus horse drawn rail cars was the price of hay.
The price of hay, so the author said, was increased in cost enormously by the war with Napoleon. War horses eat hay.

Thank you Steve. That explains the smoke unit and metal handrails on the tender. Chops - The flag poles on the locomotive and tender came with the model. It is a rebuild and the only modifications was the lighting.

The Doodlebug is a 1950's Walther's kit, and they called it the "Shuttle Jack." The prototype ran about Arkansas until the 1960's. It is an articulated united, both prototype and model. This particular piece runs great. I am willing to sell it because as nice as it is it just doesn't fit my overall collection. I found this finished piece in a garage among a ton of NIB, NOS kits.
