That's disheartening! I hope nothing else fared as poorly.

Hmm, I got a hopper car like that that had been sitting in an attic for 25 - 30 years. Apparently there was some sort of fire or smoke in there, causing a C&O hopper to get warped. It actually turned out to look like a burned train wreck thing, which I definitely find useful.

Hot summer and time to look for this cool set.
Probably sold out but some may be available on the internet.
The hockey team may change their name in the near future. This item may become a collector item.

I feel cold just seeing that photo! Streak of 103 days broken by cooling thunderstorms. First rain since April or March.

Hot summer has us relive Christmas memories.
Pages from Christmas catalog of yesteryear.
When kids pleaded with parents to buy the newest train items.
Sometimes the kids would win.
And also kids across the border.

I love the old catalogs... I have several Tyco catalogs of the 70s and I enjoy the one Life-Like catalog I have. I was always impressed with their building kits... Nice post, wks...

I really like those pre-built N-Scale layouts for sale in those catalogs of the past.....

Two weeks ago, this rake would pound around without any trouble at all. Been hot, hot, hot, which is average for El Paso. Spent hours today trying to get this piece, and some others like it, to get around this corner without derailing miserably. That bit of cardboard is a shim, to see if that would fix it, nope. Glued it, nailed it, and replaced the entire section. Nope. Ready to sell the whole lot on eBay. Thankfully, leaving to Seattle, Tuesday, for a week off. Perhaps the Model Train Muse will light upon my shoulder. Ready to put a match to the whole works.
My guess there is some heat warpage of the baseboard, and or track, that is cumulative in nature, and is playing havoc where it used to run just fine, all the time.
We did get a brief downpour this afternoon, which really didn't do much to cool things off, but looked nice. We don't see much rain in El Paso, so when it occurs, it is a pleasant thing. I hope to see plenty of rain in Seattle.
