How do I go about building a Heisler cab roof? Have a chance to buy one but the original roof is gone and the one it is hideous! I don't even wanna search for that part. It's a Rivarossi. Also, what's the best way going about couplers since they're gone? Like to use horn hooks.

Concerning the couplers, they are originally truck-mounted, but on my Heisler, I've body mounted Kadees. The same sort of horn-hook couplers you'd use in an Athearn or MDC car fit in Kadee coupler boxes, so this is an option open to you.

Here's the front coupler:

The front pilot beam is hollow, so I just filled the gap with some plastic and filed a surface flat. Pilot beams ride pretty high on a Heisler, so the underside of the beam is about the height of the top of the coupler box. I usually don't have much confidence in just gluing on a coupler, but I haven't managed to break this one off (yet).

Here's the rear coupler. The rear pilot beam is shaped a bit different from the front, so the built up plastic mounting pad is a bit more complex, but it allows for screwing on the coupler, so that's a good thing:

I don't have any really smart suggestions for making a roof, but here's a couple of pictures of an original roof, if that's any help:
