Back in may of this year i purchased a tyco train set which was originally sold at Western Auto parts stores in the mid to late seventies. This set has a tyco shark nose Midnight special loco-Union Pacific coal car-Western Auto Parts box car-generic tyco caboose with rd #689 and white stripe-basic oval of track and gold transformer-all in working condition with original box and western auto price sticker with no price listed. My guess would be this set cost between $19.99 and $29.99. Their store label has the set listed as Tyco # 7557. Anyone else have this set? All pieces are mint and looks to have had very little use. Even has the tyco price sheet to order from

Brianstyco: In going thru some old flotsam I noticed I have the master box and paper for this set but no contents. In the interest of putting one together, and given the recent forum interest in the odball Tyco promotional cars, any chance you could post a pic of the Western Auto Boxcar? thanks, Magnolia Academy

Hey MagAc. I saw your inquiry for a picture. I wasn't sure. but, I knew I had one since I had worked for Parts America (formerly Western Auto). That's when Sears owned them.
Anyway I was Unpacking and setting up today for a train show I was doing and there it was. I knew I had it. (I may be getting old But, The memory is still sharp. Now what we were talking about...??? Oh yea. Now i remember. [:D]
So here is what you asked for. By the way under the WAX (Western Auto Express) is the date it was made 12/ 15/ 78. So this somehow dates the set. There is no number on the flap. It is blank. Therefore uncataloged Item.
I found another interesting item will be posting it in the Rolling stock section later. Talk to you later, Carl

I like the Western Auto box car & search for it once in a while on ebay. It's not a "must have " but I would kinda like to get one. The True Value stores was in our area and of course I had to have the TV piggyback trailers
