Pretty much what the title says. Who made this H0 scale (?) metal oil tank thing I'm about to show? Whoever made it did a really good job, though, because it looks pretty neat.

I agree with Dave, it's the metal tank off the much-desired Ulrich flat car with tank on it track cleaner. I think it was Life-Like that did a plastic version, but the plastic tank is SO bad, it leaks because it's molded in two parts. Horrid lil track cleaner it is. So you got a nice piece there.

It does come off. I searched the internet for this thing and found that this is the Ulrich tank thing. I'm actually thinking of using it as a prop by an industrial building or something although I'm starting to have second thoughts... The container I found it in had a ton of wood pieces in there so yeah.... I also did some more research on H0Seeker and found this thing was made sometime in the 50's or 60's.

It has a ton of wood pieces with it? Hold off on using it as scenery. See if those wood pieces aren't actually the remains of the track cleaner kit.

I looked through them yesterday and probably about a quarter of those wood pieces look like the ones in those pictures. Most of them are too long. I'll try to get pictures.

Unfortunately, none of them really had marks and none of them matched.

Actually, next time I go down, I'm gonna lay all the wood into categories and see which one fit like their supposed to.

Here is page 1 of the Instructions. You can find Page 2 at the HOSEEKER website. http://www.hoseeker.com/Ulrich/ulrichtrackcleaningcarpg1.jpg It actually makes up into a pretty cool car. Regards, Vic B.

quote: It does. I'm just wondering how big the piece of wood shown in the instructions need to be in order to build this thing.
