Blasting out the starting grid this week, I received one of my most-wanted finds this past week, an Atlas Turbo Racer. Built on an Athearn Hi-F Hustler chassis with modified bracket and a bigger motor and long shaft, I got it for an amazing $5.80, usually they sell well north of $40 each on Ebay. I was VERY happy to finally get one of these ( at a very reasonable price ). I intend to DCC it, much like my transparent Huster, and run it at train shows. The original prop was missing one of the 4 blades, but I went to my local R/C flying shops, and found some packages of drone props, 2 are pushers, 2 are pullers. So I got a nice thin prop that looks a tad more realistic, and has the right angle as well! These pics are from the Ebay purchase, not my own yet. Will post more later.

I have the tender, just not in the picture. I'm still tracking down missing parts but happy to finally have the boiler for it

Those are some sweet engines you guys have gotten for this week.My LOTW is a repeat but man is it awesome in my opinion. It's an IHC/Mehano GG1 in mid to late 70's Amtrak black. I got it sealed with 3 IHC coaches in a Premier Series set from the late 1990's for $40!

This thing runs like a beaut due to it's two can motors and flywheels.

Update: I looked on top of the box for the set and it said "copyright 1999" so that's when it's from, I guess although the boxes the coaches and the GG1 are in are from all over the place. The filler boxes were from 1996, the GG1 box was from 1997, and the diagram sheet in the GG1 box states "3/98", on top of the 1999 copyright date. And I got it sealed so maybe IHC really did have this stuff lying around for a few years before putting it in a set.

Copyright dates are just that. The box and/or data sheet was copyrighted then. Could have been built years later if they had no need to change boxes or data sheets.
Latest is 1999, so if you think it all came together, that's what you look for.
Same with patents. They can make the item for 50 years and the patent date never changes. Unless updated patent (new features) then you get several patent dates.
For example, my 1911 is patented Apr 20, 1897, Sept 9, 1902, Dec 19, 1905, Feb 14, 1911, finally Aug 19, 1913. 1911-A1's have newer patent dates, but this one is WWI vintage, for sure.

I got one of those, too. It's got the Mantua Mu-2 drive in it and it actually runs pretty dang good! It pulls a decent amount for what it is, too. Mine's just regular olive green with no markings on it.

I'm home schooled, I love to work on cars and anything with an engine and wheels, I love model RR'ing, and listening to Dire Straits.

I pretty much just look closer at things. I'm also in a train group (I have a badge during these shows) so they're most likely willing to give me less.

Hi Oldtimer, here's a picture of the hybrid Hooterville, it's a BPS&D I picked up for $5 bucks, was missing the cab and the smoke box cover. I straightened the handrail around the boiler and added the Hooterville cab, it was the only 2-6-0 spare cab I had in the parts box. I'm looking for the Iron Horse cab if anyone has it. Sorry it is not the silver / red Cannonball.

Here are a pair of Hooterville Cannonball's I have.
