Another Annapolis, MD train show find, this is a Bachmann E60CP, complete. I have another one, but it had the wrong pantagraph on it. This one appears to be all original and intact. Another one to add to my growing traction power collection.

One of my latest conquests. I paid a lot for it, but I really wanted it because the one I already had is missing a couple of steps and the box does not have the "Single motor demonstrator" "Not for sale" on it. I plan on putting it on eBay sometime in the near future.

GG-1 - That is a very neat piece! I know it's worth too much as a rare item to mess with but I would think building a full interior and making it an actual cut away type model would be awesome.

I don't know if I could part with that one GG-1. A true collectible. I'm sure you will get a good return on it though.

LGB is an extremely iconic brand, man. Good job. Is it so old that it's made in Germany?

Steven, that locomotive is pretty cool and a circus theme could be a lot of fun. I'm just curious, though, the relationship between cleaning out your mother's basement and obtaining this locomotive. Is that how she pays you, or does she just happen to have model railroad things in her basement that she needs you to dispense with?

Missing some stuff. But, with Maerklin/LGB back in the game, with a new distributor, shouldn't be an issue long term. Loop out the nose for coupling is gone. Special unit (altho I have drilled out a stock unit in a pinch), held in by the stack, no less. Blast pipes out of the front top of the valve box are gone (fit into the side of the smokebox). Shows how they go: http://www.justgardenrailways.co.uk/~lgb-2020-g-scale-white-stainz-model-railway-locomotive-with-extra-carriages/67926.html plus the vertical actuator rod off the topmost plate. Play Value..those things did get broken/knocked off. http://www.justgardenrailways.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/dress-your-dolls-679261716652480071.jpg Dave

That PRR E 60 is so ugly, she's beautiful. A solid slab of traction muscle. I like the little scuff marks about the trucks, gives mucho character. Where in the world did you find this unique piece- doesn't look like a Bachmann.

http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/215126.aspx (these are quotes, not me) I think American GK made them. They had the Amtrak E60 and the single end freight units you are looking at. I think Walthers picked them up at some point, but dropped the line after a year or so. IIRC, they had Athearn 'BB' drive parts from the Athearn GE 'U-Boats'.
I'll just add that the Black Mesa & Lake Powell was the only road you mentioned that actually owned any E60CFs.
Neither the Pennsylvania nor Conrail actually had E60CFs, or anything that looked much like them.
http://www.ho-scaletrains.net/bachmannhoscalelocomotives/id67.html
The AGK model, later Walthers, is not actually a model of the production E60C (dunno where the F comes from, the official designation is E60C for the single cab versions, E60CH/CP for the Amtrak double enders, depending on if it has head-end power or not.). The AGK models are of a never-built second generation design.

It is, actually. I find it ugly and beautiful at the same time, it's a perfect mix of both.

Good info. These were originally body-only kits from American GK that required the buyer to add the mechanism from an Athearn SD9. There were plans to make several other things but IIRC when they were bought by Walthers, production soon stopped and they just sold off remaining stock. This design actually comes from the preliminary drawings done by GE for BN's study on re-electrifiying the former GN, and while the real locomotives never came into production, the little ones took their place
People keep finding these things and posting them, I know we've had to explain their history before
