"tossing" this one out first this week, I have an AF Gilbert Tie Ejector car in HO. I'm debating whether or not I should give this to Microbuss, since this usually brings good money. I already have one, so I don't really need a double. Decisions, decisions....I'll think about it.

I love that American Flyer, man. You must be very lucky. My COTW is a rather beat up (but still working) Lionel H0 poultry car. Definitely an interesting oddity, never seen one of those before, and apparently it was made between 1959 to about 1960.

My COTW is an undecorated silver Con-Cor sleeper I recently nabbed off ebay. It came with upgraded trucks - fully-sprung, 4 springs per side. I imagine they are worth far more than what I paid for the car.

The classic Dutch Maid follows up this consist. Not well visible, the girl on the caboose is pitching out a pail of mop water.

Yeah same here Stephen, that's the first Austrian made Con-Cor car I had seen - although not really surprising since several Con-Cor locos are Austrian made too.

I think I may have a couple of Austrian made freight cars from Tyco, actually. A Penn Central streamlined caboose if I recall. Gonna have to dig through my train cases again.

As a kid, I had some AHM freight cars that were made in Austria by Roco. I just googled "Roco Trains Concor" and it looks as if Concor once sold some Roco passenger cars.

Athearn made some cars for Lionel to sell around 1960. The Lionel L in a circle shows this to be one of them.

I think that the trucks on Jerry's car are made by GSB. They were a short lived manufacturer that made a few detail parts (I had some wipers) and a they made a few SD-40's. Google them for the whole scoop.

They do have "GSB" and "Hong Kong" stamped on the bottom. That's a pretty interesting story about the company - too bad they didn't survive.

Very nice! I'm partial to the old 55 ton hoppers. If I had seen that in Chops' JOTW, the price might have been 8 cents instead of 6!

My double-dip COTW is another Con-Cor. A WP California Zephyr "Silver Planet" dome observation. These cars are the definition of "streamliner" to me.
Interesting thing, although I didn't get a photo - the "made in Austria" was ground off, by the looks of from the mold itself. The car is new old stock, has not been altered.

Jerry, Many Years ago I purchased a batch of discounted Life Like brass turnouts form a craft store. These turnouts were identical to the older Atlas units except there was a deep Life Like Logo where the old Atlas logo had been. I wonder how many USA and European model train production tool sets ended up in Hong Kong or China. I bet the MRC Model Power Line is made in China with old Mantua, Mehano, and even Varney tools. The MRC-MP Hopper looks like an old Varney

Yep - the Con-Cor box has their anniversary logo on it, I think 1992(?) so I am assuming production had shifted to China by then. Looks like they simply took a grinder to the mold, can almost make out the original letters.

I believe even companies like Tyco and Mantua did that after they split. Some Tyco cars that were around in the Mantua era had the Mantua name blotted out and/or vise versa. I have a Mantua 1890 coach from the 80's (originally, it was in the Tyco lineup) and where the Tyco name was just so happened to be blotted out into a mound of plastic.
