Found this guy at a local Hobby store a few weeks ago, decided it needed to join my AMC consist. :) I think this will give me 4 or 5 of them now.

I know you've posted a lot in the past, so I assume you know the hidden tricks of downsizing it to 1000 in width, etc. I didn't have any problems last week, even after my various tirades (I was wondering if I would be banned). I think maybe WKS was also saying he had trouble, and usually posts a ton of pictures.
Dang nice flat there, Gremlin. Sounds like you got a sweet little set of five there. As a former OTR trucker, I really dislike trucks, sorry truck fans, but in this case I'm won over. Those cab over's, as depicted, were real kidney beaters and ear drum mashers.

My photo is not too big. I just checked others and my photo is within their size. I will try again. I posted in JOTW with no problem.

yeah, I had a problem this morning, the Forum wouldn't let my pictures post, when I'd go to select one, it would jump back to the Folder area again. After 3-4 attempts, it finally took, and I had no more problems, but I did have some issues this Sunday morning for a bit. A glitch of some sort, maybe.

My COTW is a Train Station Products Budd Hi-Level Coach-Dorm Car kit that will be joining my Amtrak Sunset Limited when built:

Thrown in for good measure, I couldn't pass up this pair of Bachmann tenders from the Train Show. Will be great kitbash material:

Great looking bobber, Randy! Is the lettering a decal? In the photo it looks just like the stamping Tyco originally used on these. Very clean work indeed.

Hey Eric, the B&O caboose was originally B&O I think. It had been painted over several times and required a lot of time in the stripper. I painted it with Floquil caboose red. Then I used some decals that I found a few years ago that were printed by a nice man named Hanley. He offered B&O caboose, double sets for $5. So of course this was before Microscale offered a B&O caboose set so I bought ten sets. I have 9&1/2 sets left.
Notice in the picture the left hand corner of the cupola is bent down a little. It appears that it was placed to close to something hot and deformed some.

Crane Car, 1972 El Paso Model Train Club Open House. What interests me most is not the car, but the guy's hat. The Club did not start keeping serious records until about 1972, so by oral tradition the Club started as a project at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in 1950 by a Colonel Thomas, and that this project evolved into the Fort Bliss Model Train Club by 1960. This hat is one of the few clues we have to the origins of the Club, which is now 65 years old. It should be noted that Ft. Bliss and WBAMC are adjacent one another, and that El Paso is home to the largest, in terms of geography, Army bases in the United States.
I believe that it was General Sherman, or one of his contemporaries, who stated, "If I owned El Paso, I'd rent it out and live in Hell."

Blowing up the photo, it appears he is trying to prod an early (smokebox bell) Mantua Mikado (single lead wheel) to move. Noticed also there does not appear to be a coupler on the crane..possibly the hoop of a Mantua bent up badly, but that's a guess.

Actually, I think he's trying to get it on the rails, honestly, especially in a spot like that.

Older layout shots can be so interesting because of the vintage roster. I also notice a New One Camelback to the right of the coal tipple. The brass Pacific is a beaut.

Cool photo Jeff and nice story about the start at Beaumont. I wonder, though, do you think El Paso is rentable? Just kiddin' man. Actually, I kind of dig the desert country around there . . . maybe because I'm not there everyday.
