Stephen, where did you get your display units? It looks like they're fitted for sliding glass. I should really get something like that.

My Loco of the Week is an Athearn Hustler repower project, still Hi-F, but now with a NWSL dual-shaft motor and a 126 decoder. I ran it Saturday at my club's Open House, and while the Digtrax system crashed and I didn't get much time with it, it did fine on the branch line I was using to test it out on. Ran smoothly, very quiet, so now I need to work on getting some shells on it, I intend to use it as a base for my haunted Tender, Caboose, and maybe a Bat train .

Yup, I kept the bands It doesn't have the super high speed like before, but it's still very fast, and it will even crawl much slower, unlike the stock Athearn motor. Those NWSL motors are very smooth, which is one reason why I used it. That and it already had a dual shaft. I suspect I"ll have quite a bit of fun with this unit .

It's simple, don't go.Unless you have a girlfriend. But then again, I'm sure that beaut would last longer than any other relationships I'll ever get close to. Enough about my drama, nice locomotive.

Thanks Stephen. The picture isn't very good; not up to the quality of a lot of the other guys here. I was just happy to finally get something posted. My computer skills are poor and I have little desire to learn. Very similar to my opinion on DCC. I have a Digitrax Super Chief with a 20 amp power supply that I never turn on. Maybe I am just too old.

I'm stuck in pre dcc too ... I appreciate what people do with dcc, but it's not for me ... I like hearing things like the MU-2 grind, the gurgle of my open frame Mantua Mikado on pulsed DC and the wheels clicking over the rail joiners.

The real benefit to using DCC these days is multiple trains runnnig on a layout, and the realistic sounds you can get. Although many of sound systems now will operate on DC just fine, too. I got into the DCC because when running multiple trains in a club environment, there really IS no better way. For simple home use, I haven't used DCC, I have bought two systems, one PC based, one Digitrax, but have set up and used neither at home yet. It's fairly easy to install the decoders, too, but not all engines are capable of it, either. So I enjoy both DC and DCC in their own special niches. I just turned 55, so I'm old, but not TOO old, and I can appreciate the value in both systems.

Apparently Atlas made more than just 4-4-0s in Old Timer N-scale locomotives. They did a Master series which had some of their best locomotives (including diesels). This is the only type other than a 4-4-0 or 0-6-0(made by Trix) that I have been able to find. It's a really nice runner and looks good to boot. I currently have a 2-4-0 (kitbashing a Bachmann 4-4-0) in progress, but due to the size, it is a REAL slow proess. Atlas still makes some replacement parts (the missing flag stanchion) and drivers. I have a six car old time construct from Roundhouse that will go good with this locomotive. Will have to find the decals for that tho.

A locomotive that was made in Barzil. Imported and sold by Model Power. It is factory painted for the Pennsylvania RR. Pennsy would have called it a C class. PRR 0-8-0. frank

It is a MDC/Roundhouse with an Athearn drive. The handrails look good, but at very fragile.
