i went to a train show in bakersfield and bought more then i expected
my favorite! a bachmann 4-8-4 daylight for $75!!! with original box. needed a wheel clean and lubrication the usual you could say but it is so worth it!! it runs smooth but probably wont get a ton of use due to the fact that i run a 4x8
i got this old tyco brown box for free!!! i was walking around this guys table of stuff and he noticed my hart high school shirt and said he went to my rival school valencia back in the day, he quickly opened up a box of old tyco freight cars and said "pick one" i chose this one and we asked how much he said free you can have it. a very nice gentleman to give me a free freight car with the original box.
3 IHC log cars for $60, my elderly friend donald who i bought my mdc 0-6-0T from at the show in anaheim back in january gave me a deal on these, they were $25 each so 3 for $75 but he made the last one only $10! very nice of him to do that. people go nuts for these on ebay. I'm starting a log car train for my rare mantua 2-6-6-2 CVLC #25. I also bought 3 coaches for $10!! 2 old athearn SP heavyweights and a southern observation. i also got a mantua 0-4-0 boiler and tender that i need! all i need is a set of wheels and rods let me know what you think

Some excellent buys there, I'd say. I'm looking at teh sister to your SP, the N&W J4 on Ebay, by Bachmann. Actually, there's one auction I'm watching that has both the SP and the N&W Bachmanns. I have a J4, but the drive is junk/broken. Hoping to get a good one to put the shell on.

Hey There:
It's why we have a section called "loose ends...."
If it was only the Bachmann it would be a great start to this weeks LotW except you'd need to use that format. Look again at the section titles for all the "...of the week" ones. Todd (NYC) the forum owner, gives guidelines for the posting format. Otherwise we just end up with a bunch of Misc. sections.....
Btw, don't feel bad you're not the first and i daresay won't be the last.
Best, Gareth

I have the N&W J4, beautiful engine but I have not run it for a long time, if my SD40 derails on the tight curves on my 4x8 board, how can I expect the J to stay on the tracks? Luckily I have a model railroader friend with a larger layout than mine.

The title of this section is LOTW. You're posting rolling stock in LOTW. You have nice locos but they belong in LOTW and under the topic LOTW. There is a thread like this in Loose Ends. Not trying to offend here.

Those are European style couplers. Companies like Marklin, Hornby, etc use similar couplers to this day. That Mehano was made only for the European market with those couplers.

You guys are killin' me....I swear it's a regional thing. I've never seen any of this stuff around here. All I see are the typical Athearn/Atlas/Tyco/LifeLike/Bachmann common stuff. I hardly ever see HO big steam engines, and I've never seen brass.

Got another locomotive for my layout at the Greenberg's Train and Toy Show at Wilmington, MA.
A Walthers Trainline BNSF GP9M! It came equipped with a decoder, along with an LED headlight in the front! Pretty sweet.
