Ok, challenging ANYONE to disagree, I am going to post the smallest HO layout in existence. Can anyone do better? For this first Layout Shot of the Week post, I finally built up a snack platter track with some grey foam, and green in the middle, and laid down my Eldon track, with 7.5" radious, fits nicely to "serve up" this fine little number to you. I need to work on the engines to get them running, but it's pretty much ready to go! I used my BOTW to enhance it, ready for the crowds to attend the first inaugural "running of the micro-train". Not a bad little set-up, I should be able to set this up someplace permanently and show it off.

I never even knew anybody even had any of these things. It's good to finally find one to confirm it's existence.

That's neat Jerry. The smallest one I ever saw, and I couldn't find it on the Internet again, was one that used a silver dollar as the center and then had a circle of track spiked around it with a tiny engine running. I seem to recall it was Varney or someone like that who did it as an advertising stunt.

Think I remember reading an endorsement for the Roundhouse Box Cab: "Takes curves so tight it can run around a hatband."

That someone was me, most likely. And it was Penn Line, not Varney. Although, I DID recently acquire a real Silver Dollar to duplicate the Penn Line Silver Dollar RR. I do have that little switcher, too. Here's the link again to it :

What I'd like to do is expand on the Silver dollar, maybe have two of them, in a figure eight. Why just copy, when you can create something new? First I have to be able to bend the track reliably, and get the right radius. I've seen the ring press tool to do this, but they're not cheap, a good one costs around $100, and will do minimum radius down to 1 inch, so could do the Penn Line "layout" rail. But do I want to spend that much for a tool I may not use much? I may attempt to make my own ring press, there are DIY's out there to do so. Anyway, a neat thing, I could add that to the center of my Eldon Little Big Train set.
