Can anyone tell me who made these? I got a bagful at a train show last year. "Obsolete trucks" they were labelled. They actually roll very well. In the photo, you can see two crossmembers.

Early Lionel-HO - the ones that Lionel made themselves instead of contracting out to Athearn had these kind of trucks. The caboose had the same trucks without talgo couplers, I have a pair of those.
You can see them on this car:

I didn't want to assume they were Lionel, as the couplers have the European type of underset shank. On re-examining my track cleaner, I notice it has the same coupler on it. Any idea who may have made them for Lionel? Rivarossi, maybe? Just pondering. Evan

| I just pulled a pair of these from a grey Lionel Michigan Central 40' gondola. I am going to add better trucks and Kadee couplers to this car for mow.

The Lionel HO I used to have was definitely Rivarossi, and I seem to recall it having trucks like that.

| The trucks in the first picture were made by Lionel. In general, Rivarossi produced trains for Lionel in 1957. Athearn produced trains for Lionel in 1958. Lionel produced their own trains in 1959 going forward.
