After talking and thinking about it so long, I finally got my track out, some salvaged foam-core board, and started picking out the best pieces of used track I had on hand. I finally found enough to build an 18" radius loop, with a switch and some spur sidings for future businesses. Took some looking, but I finally found my N gauge spikes which I used for nails to hold the track to the foam board. Did some scrubbie-pad cleaning, and put my Life-Like BL-2 on the track first, to see what it'd do. Ran around fine, no issues! I then tried a Trix Conrail unit, but it was balky at one spot, maybe some track joiner power issues on that section. Then tried a Frisco diesel, it also did OK. Hooked up my 3 Santa Fe passenger cars, which I had finally gotten some matched trucks for before Christmas, and took them out for a spin finally.
So basically I got two things off my N gauge bucket list tonight. Going to try to get that N gauge loop sceniced somewhat in time. Tired of just collecting, I want to operate some trains now. Here's a few pictures of my loop and Santa Fe cars.

Jerry

The storage case is a long leader fishing tackle storage unit I found at Wal-mart, it holds long N gauge cars very nicely, I put some foam down in the bottom, to hold them up some, very efficient storage box. Overall a productive train day. :)

Great job, AMC. I'm glad you were finally able to accomplish that.
