Now that's an interesting oddity.

Hey buss, I don't want to burst your bubble but they are not a new company. They have been around for years. Model Power sold there locomotives and passenger car. They made to 4-6-0, 0-8-0, and 2-8-0, with tender drive, that Model power was selling as theirs. Also the streamline passenger cars. I have 2 different sets of PRR ones. frank

Their website says you can buy their trains in St. Marys PA.
There is a great brewery in St. Marys too (Straub Beer)

The tender driven ones that Model Power sold had no swivel to the trucks, making for a long rigid wheelbase with a minimum radius well above the trainset standard 18 inches. The consolidation had the first and last driver axles mounted just a bit higher than driver axles 2 and 3. This made them ready, able and eager to derail at the smallest excuse.
Unless these were redesigned in the past decade or so, buyer beware.

I have an earlier model 2-8-0, and the inner wheelsets on each tender truck have a lot of sideways movement, giving them more than enough lateral play for 18" radii. The 2 center pairs drivers are also blind, so I've had no problem with derailments, just a noisy and hard to replace motor in the tender. Later versions have a Mabuchi motor, which I assume are quieter.

I've always been tempted by their EP-4 electric locomotive. A bit pricey though.

Here Ya Go!

The mechanism is similar to the AHM/IHC GG1. It has no weight to it, and flies around the layout. I have to figure out a way to limit the speed. I've only used it once because of it.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised because right off the bat it reminded me of a mix of a Union Pacific streamlined diesel and a GG1. No wonders it has a similar drive. Whatever the case, it looks pretty sweet in my book.

mb:
I saw the U5b at a train show here in Erie. Somebody was running a switcher and at first I thought it was an FM, then I looked closer and realized, WTF, a U5b! Confirmed by the loco's owner...i think the club that sets up the layout it was running on has some connection with the St marys importer...
Ran nicely.
