My Northern Pacific shark finally came today and she is a real stunner. Many say it is the best looking locomotive TYCO produced but I would beg to differ, I think TYCO's SD24 looks much better than this one. The N.P. shark would be second with the W.P. GP20 coming in third. No locomotive will ever take the place on my Alco PPR C430. I have been looking for this one and the Cotton Belt F9 for a really long time. Over the last 5 months I had actually slowed down from buying trains, but I seen this one on eBay by accident. The seller listed it as: N. Pacific and I don't even know how I ran across it. It was there for 3 days with no buyers or watchers, so I asked him to end it early. we agreed on $35 but in my rush to get it before anyone else did I hit the buy it now instead of "Best offer". I was going to pay the $60 if it came down to it, but the guy was so nice he refunded my $25 back to me. One more to go and that is it, either the W.P. caboose or the Cotton Belt F9 and then I am through.

I have always liked thoses but am not a fan of the PT drives. Do you know if the shark's wheelbase matches that of any of the Athearn Blue Box locomotives? I have done conversions before with those. A Rock Iland conversion of a shark would go well with my Athearn BB Rock Island UBoat.

GIC did a shark conversion with an Athearn BB drive - pretty sure it was a F7 but will have to dig up that thread.

Well one thing I don't like about this site, the search function sucks
Can't find GIC's repower of a sharknose with the Athearn F7 drive, but did see enough stuff out there that others have done it, even with other manufacture F7 drives. Apparently the trucks are spaced the same.
But anyway, back to the point of this thread - that is a sweet looking NP Shark! I like the color scheme and it looks flawless
