My AOTW for this week is a British coal car wreck thing on my old west H0 layout.

Super nifty. Evocative image. Reminds me of Sergio Leone's "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly," an iconic "Spaghetti Western" (Western movie filmed in Italy to keep budget low). In the opening scene, an Italian mixed goods train whizzes past through an American desert landscape (a lot like El Paso, ugh), buffers and all.

Does remind of that movie now! Few of the Clint Eastwood movies were like that.

Wouldn't filming it in Italy make the budget higher because you have to pay for transportation to that area and that sort of stuff.

Walt - I have to ask... Are the 10 livestock trailers to achieve symmetry? Granted I am probably the pot calling the kettle black, but just curious

Yes, Jerry... I have 10 of all the other trailers so like the nutjob that I am, I want to even up the numbers. It's like the slot car bridge I-beams where I had to use all eight like Ohio does, though only 2 may ever be seen... .

I think, back in the '70's it was sort of like filming in Mexico: cheap, abundant labor. Incidentally, the film was an allegory of the Vietnam War.

Oh, okay. That makes more sense, I guess. Still, it's strange they used Italian locos and rolling stock although it makes that coal car wreck I put work.

"Ugly" was in fact an Italian production, not just filmed overseas. But the railroad equipment is Spanish...the desert scenes were filmed in Spain.

You could use the "Fezzilwigg's Furniture" tag as a store front sign... a wee bit of cut and paste, you'd have your next AOTW ... IN THE BAG!

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

My AOTW is a custom built DC block control panel for the long gone club layout. The pictures were taken as the panel was dismantled and put in the parts bin and trash.

My AOTW is the Tyco truck terminal from last week all cleaned up and freshly oiled and now installed on the LC&P in the South Peoria Terminal. It is seen here in a classic Tyco scene with a re powered ATSF GP-20.

What is the name and address of that daughter? May be snow on the roof, but fire in the furnace. Also, great use of color on color as always.
