getting a "charge" out of my first 2015 post, I bring you this little O gauge diesel switcher, which appears to be powered by a single D cell battery. Found it at a PA flea market near Pittsburgh area this past Friday when I was visiting my friend up there. Pretty nifty, I like the unusual, and this is a nice one, not all plastic, has metal wheels. No name on it, but will do some research on it. Going to take it to my hobby shop job today to show it off. :)

Hmm, the car behind the diesel looks vaguely European but the diesel looks totally American. Very odd piece indeed. Kinda looks like an earlier (and much bigger) version of the Thomas The Tank motorized toys by Tomy. So anyway, my LOTW for this week is a Bachmann DCC Sound NYC F-7 type locomotive. Runs really well under DCC, actually.
 Here's the box for it.

Here is a Tyco GP20 that I purchased at a train show in San Antonio, TX last July. It was on a table and was marked parts only, does not run, $2.00. I bought it because it was complete minus handrails. I brought it home, cleaned and oiled it and it is a great running engine.

My LOTW is a Scotch-powered 2-4-0 Iron Horse (manufacturer unknown). I think it is roughly G-scale, or close enough after a few shots of the "fuel"

these are one of my favorites from the tyco line. They have really terrific paint finishes though some purists might have balked because they are shiny. Personally, I have seen brand new locomotives on the prototype rails and they are also shiny so there you have it. I have noticed that these run really well compared to some other Tyco products. They run quieter and draw less amperage compared to some. quote:Here is a Tyco GP20 that I purchased at a train show in San Antonio, TX last July. Thanks John - I forgot to mention that it also plays a tune whenever the bottle is removed from cab So it is "sound equipped" as well.

**A loco I got at the train show yesterday in Somerset NJ. * A Tyco 4-6-0. The Hooterville Cannonball. From the Petty Coat Junction train set. You can see it needs a little work. I have the parts. I was surprised it had its boiler front and its little part, the headlamp top. These are usually missing. I have a wood load for the tender, I have a smoke stack to replace the one broken off( it was glued in). The main rods are up side down. There is a hole lot of lint rapped-up behind the side rods and the wheels. It will look better for next week. frank

That explains the screwed up looking side rods.

I was so impressed at DaCheez' Bowser, that I bid on and won 2 Bowser Brill chassis. I then bid on the Brill bodies to build complete units, but was WAY outbid ... so now I have 2 rather spartan looking Brill trollies. This infuriated me so much that I did a BIN for this Bowser Lehigh Valley Transit Jewett interburban and I'm set to bid on an additional $200 worth of trolley stuff. THAT'll learn 'em to out bid me!

Nice trolley! Any plans to paint it, or will it be a display piece? Either way, I like it.

Sean, you have the rarest pieces. That is definitely a copy of the Toonerville Trolley, no doubt, and a fine looking example. I know the working HO gauge types sell in the hundreds of macaroons, not sure what an O gauge version would sell for. Thanks for sharing that.

And since the Toonerville Trolley cartoon was released in 1922 and you said that model was made in the 1920's, it should come at no surprise. Whatever the case, very unique piece of model railroading history. It definitely stole the show for this week's LOTW.

An SD unit charges the upgrade out of a tunnel at El Paso Model Train Club last week. Property of Robert the Hogger, a U.P. engineer who spends his little free time modeling a fantasy league of Santa Fe railroading. Talk about a "Bus Man's Holiday!" See more of Robert's fine trains in Loose Ends.

Thanks Guys!
No plans to paint it. In fact, it is the only piece in my entire collection the wife has allowed me to display on it's cigar box in our living-room since it's purchase in 2006. She allows this piece over the other completely hand made ~3' long O scale brass WM Class M2 challenger I have and the craftsmanship on that piece is far superior. I was told to not even think of displaying that piece! Go figure!?!
This trolley? has a bake-lite (I think) base which was cracked in half when it came. I know how I can fix/repair it, but just have not done so yet. I was thinking Toonerville too when I purchased it originally, but that was before I really knew what the Toonerville looked like. I did not really like it at first, but it has since grown on me and part of that was the story behind it. Would sure love to know more about the cigar shop. I'm still not sure if it was meant as a trolley or a steam dummy, (Early steam locomotive disguised as a stage coach as to not scare the horses).
I completely forgot about the piece until a couple of weeks or so when I was near the shelf it was on with my phone and decided to snap a few shots of it and the note I received with it.

Happy New Year all. Been a while since I posted a LOTW. I started a new job and have been a bit swamped so trains were put on the back burner for a bit. Here is a set of new additions:

My LOTW is a Bachman Spectrum UP GP-30 that I rescued from the dead line. It ws missing a drive shaft so I got it for $ 5.00 bucks. I made a copy of the existing plastic driveshaft out of brass stock. Runs great.
