My LOTW for this week is a Bachmann Spectrum Pennsylvania K4 Pacific I got for Christmas recently.I did some research and found my exact version was made somewhere between about 1999 and 2000. The code number is #84013. Good runner, too.
The only question I have is, is this model DCC ready?

My Penn Line K4 4-6-2. Sold between 1950-1963. Very smooth and quiet. Paid $29 for it at last month's TCA swap meet. Must weigh close to 2 pounds or more! Heaviest running steamer in my collection so far.

My LOTW is an AHM GP I got from Ebay for $12.00 shipped. After a cleaning of the wheels and greasing, it is good runner

Heck of a deal tramp. I like those AHM locos, they are indeed decent runners. That one looks brand new.

Thanks Jerry. It does look new. I got this a few months back and if I am not mistaken, I was the only bidder. Guess I was lucky,

My LOTW is this Cary metal bodied beauty that I recently picked up. It has a good running Athearn drive and might get painted for Norfolk Western or Nickel Plate Road.

That's nice. I couldn't help but notice the pair of chattanooga's in the background. Is one a dummy or do they both run?

CORRECTION: My LOTW... An incomplete brass NYC P-2b electric locomotive:
PURCHASED LATE LAST NIGHT AS A BUY-IT-NOW FOR $40 w/ Free s/h. It is missing all the mechanics and the middle drive wheels. Since the sideframes are present, it could fairly easily be converted into a dummy and or power using some other chassis made to fit and still look the part.

The Reading GP-20 in the photo is actually the former dummy. It's now MU-2 powered but donated it's running gear for the Chattanooga dummy. I posted a video on last week's LOTW with both in action.

My LOTW is probably my 2nd-favorite engine next to the BL-2, the Alco C-415 almost-centercab diesel. Only 29? made, not a big seller, but a neat part of diesel history. It's bigger than the hustler-style industrial diesel, but not so huge it dwarfs everything. I tend to go small, or medium-sized, on my diesel preferences. Although I DO have some DD40X's as well

Christmas gift from my wife.
Here it is... the First of the Last "representative" of ALCO's locomotive fleet production...
The C636-1 Demonstrator...
My notes read that Morrison Knudson took these, numbered them 5401-5403, painted them mustard yellow with black trim... shipped to Australia, eventually wound up back in North America to work for Quebec Cartier Mining.
Next to two namesake locomotives...
Enjoy!
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

I also have a new brass loco, a Tenshodo GP-9. Runs very nice, if you don't mind the "chiming" of the brass body as it runs. I've added a few lead weights inside to dampen the resonance. Doesn't help much. Suggestions? Evan

I'd suggest using foam tape, it's thin, you can coat the entire interior without interfering with the guts, and that may help prevent the vibrating as much. Or some small foam blocks strategically placed to prevent the sides from ' oil canning ', as they call it too.

Since we are looking at electrics this week, I just have to share this fresh find. Two, count -em two Athearn GE-E-60 CF units in Pennsy colors. These were so weird that I had to nab them. Both are dummies and are missing their pantogaphs, railings and glazing but I think I can make some from scratch.

Kovasctse, your engine is DCC ready. Just take the shell off the tender. Where the DCC 8 pin connector is.

Those are actually old American GK kits (very rare, so I'm told) based not on the actual E60CF units built for the BM&LP, but on preliminary E60CF prototype drawings done for the BN when they were pondering re-electrification. Very similar, but proportionally shorter, and with a number of detail differences. They came as complete body kits to be installed on an Athearn SD9 frame. I have one painted for the BM&LP, as close to realistic as these get, that I found for criminally cheap a year or so ago.
It looks like yours are just the bare shells on frames, so you've got work to do to add all THESE parts... have fun I'll be doing the same eventually.

Proto 2000 F3 This was missing two sideframes. In case anyone doesn't already know, Athearns fit just fine.
