I picked up this DCC ready Dash 9 Demonstrator, unfortunately it wasn't quite DCC ready. After fixing the wiring and adding ditch lights it's up and running well on DCC. Tom

Picked these up at a recent show. They were in pretty rough shape mechanically but I was able to get one running really well. The other is currently a dummy. Previous owner did a patch job on these two Commin Round the Mountain Tyco SD-24s and did a pretty credible job. I kinda like em the way they are, not sure if I will repaint them or not/ what are your thoughts forum members. Also gat a third unit in a Mopac inspired green scheme. This one is going to become a Mopac Bicentennial unit.

My LOTW is again my (former dummy) Reading GP-20, this time with new Kadees, side frames installed and hauling 15 coal cars. Now all I have to do is figure out how to install traction tires without them twisting. I might just give up on the traction tires all together and use Darth's wheel upgrade trick.

If you like the paint scheme, I say leave it be. Does look a decent job the former owner did.

I'm being generous this week , and giving a 3-fer for LOTW. All 3 are items I picked up at the Greenberg show this past Saturday. The Lionel was my most expensive purchase at $65, and I picked up the trolley pole at work, the boss had some in his parts drawers, so I can make it whole again. Here's the 3 I got.
The little Bachmann N gauge is missing one axle, but otherwise in nice shape, has black gears, so I heard those were better than the earlier white ones. The Lionel trolley runs great, the Bachmann I haven't tried yet. The Mantua Coney Island is a REALLY hard one to find these days. $11 took it home. I think it used to come in a two-car set, this is a powered unit, and I dont' see any attaching drawbars on it, so not sure. But it runs sweet and silent! I think there were 7 different names you could get, and I've got 4 of them now.

Regardingb the traction tires, I found these in the RC section of a hobby shop . They are Axial brand O-rings, 1mm. 10 per pack. the part # is AXA1163. Look for the green packages. They fit just right on the Mantua/Tyco diesels. Evan

I knew it was a tender drive loco due to a YouTube video on a review of the model.

Thanks! I'm really happy with how well she hauls. I think I'll pick up some Pennsylvania (state) related cars to haul.
Right ... I've been using my thumb to hold the tire, then I roll a round toothpick to kind of walk it onto the wheel. I still manage to get it twisted. What a frustrating process!

I was bitten by the Reading RR bug some time back in the 60s when my mother took me for my first train ride beginning from the Reading Terminal in Philadelphia, changing trains in Reading and heading for Pottsville, PA. Like model railroading itself, I do not believe there's a cure!

I was just at the RDG Terminal Market on saturday with my lady, since you mention it. Got me back into the RDG mindset... there's definitely no cure! Also for PA companies, look out for the bright yellow and black Penn Salt tankers. One of those is practically mandatory! Mine is a converted Bachmann 3-dome car that got kadees and athearn trucks; IIRC Bev-Bel released the Athearn 42' tanker in the same colors.

I thought that loco was a very well done kitbash of a Mantua 1880 locomotive because of the wheel configuration.Guess I was wrong.Looks good, though.

You're welcome. I meant to tell you all about them some time ago. However, when I saved the part of the pack with the number on it , I promptly mislaid it. Just found it a week or two ago. They also work well side by side, if you need a wider tire. Evan
