Mustangs, I actually posted a Trains Miniature car just a couple of weeks ago. My contribution to the COTW for this week is an AHM box car with the box dated February 22, 1973.

My COTW is an unusual one, I haven't seen this one before until it showed up at my train shop in an estate lot. MINE! HO scale Lionel circus car, I didn't even know Lionel did one of these.

Also a Lionel car, a track cleaner, moderately non-functional. Evan

Jerry, that is a good looking car. For that matter, all the cars look great. My two cars this week are Bachmann cars that I picked up in the lot at a local train show. Cost each, a whooping .75 cents. I have two more left to show from that lot.

My COTW is a pair of old-time cars I got from Chops some time ago.
This started out as a Mantua ATSF combine. I stripped and repainted it for the T&T.

This is a Mantua W&ARR horse car with metal trucks. I liked the naturally weathered look, gave it a little touch-up here and there then left it alone.

** My car of the week, like almost always, would nicely fit in to a Old kit car category. It is a war emergency gondola that was made for almost every railroad during WW1 and 2. The USRA was having various companies build them in large numbers during the war. * This is a old kit car from around the 1950-60's time period. It is like many others made with die cast gondola walls and a wood floor. I found mine as you see it completely built , with trucks and couplers and in a well weathered patina. I would say ready for a set of decals. frank

Nice looking car Frank. Any idea what the herald is? It resembles a Life-Like logo, but I seriously doubt that's what it is.

That there is an Ulrich kit, one of my favorites, introduced 1953. IIRC they came in PRR, LV, ROCK, and undec. I can't see them but there should be a whole lot of closely-spaced wood cross-beams along the whole underside of the car; my undec car has them but my Rock car is missing them, as some modelers never bothered to install them. Nice find either way!

A nice observation and good post Connor. It seems to me that in the past a few companies were producing this car in kit form. I know this type car was made in various lengths. I do have a few a different lengths. I haven't made one from a kit so your observations and conclusions, seem correct to me. Again Connor a good post. frank

Got another addition to my Christmas train!

So what if it's no longer 1979? Still looks pretty cool! Plus, A.H.M. was up there with Bachmann and TYCO at the time when it came to dominating the HO train market. Of course I took it out of the box, replaced the X2Fs with knuckle couplers (using the Life-Like knuckle couplers, as they fit in easily.) Now it's part of my Christmas train consist:

I dig the paint scheme on that Sun Oil Company tank car JBsmith. Sometimes I think about having a consist of a bunch of them. When I was a kid, we'd drive by the Sun Oil refinery in Toledo, Ohio. There'd always be a mess of those cars and they'd all be dirty and slimy.

What can be said about this week's offerings? "THEY'RRRRE GREAT!" By the way Wiley, I love that brass track on green grass thing you're doing there. When I rebuilt my Tycomania layout, I happily signed on to that bandwagon. Beautiful work there.
