For this week, my COTW is a Life Like Western Maryland coal car that I got at a train show a while back.

Nice car! You can find those at train shows in the $3 box but they always have stirrups missing.

My COTW is a pair of Roundhouse(?) Conrail coal hoppers I snagged from the dollar box at a hobby shop in Wildwood NJ a couple months ago. With different numbers, no less All they needed was some coal loads and a little touch-up here and there.

I'm surprised I didn't show this here yet...
Bachmann's animated stock car with horses bobbing through the windows! Very reminiscent of Lionel's old "rodeo" car of the 1960s... (You'd think Bachmann would've tried this back in the 1970s or 1980s, or even TYCO would've done it!)

Will look it up. One of our members used to be an OTR trucker and does a lot of tractor trailer modeling. We have an abundance of his trucks on the layout.

Got these at the Greenberg Show in Edison, NJ on Saturday.
I got this because Carstens just went under - So no more MRC or Flying Models. It's a little beat up.

I hit the jackpot on these. They're all from a guy who had a couple of cardboard boxes labelled $2.00. Some were even wrapped up in bubble-wrap. I had to peel them to see what they were. Most were in great shape.

This is the real bargain (like the $2.00 cars weren't for only $1.00

This was a highly unusual haul. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this at a Greenberg Show. I never saw the guy with the $2.00 boxes before and probably never will again!

Some history on those cars of yours, since they're so neat:
The Carstens car, that exact one you have in your picture, I've met before. It showed up at Penn Valley Hobbies in Lansdale about 2 years ago, with the broken grabirons, brown wheels and McHenrys just like that. The owners retired and began liquidating their entire stock (several hundred HO locos and over 1500 cars new and used, plus N, Z, a little Lionel, and a metric ton (very funny!) of airplane and car and ship kits) shortly afterwards. They closed down for good earlier this year and I wondered where the last of the cars went, since a couple hundred remained unsold the last time I stopped by before they closed, that one included. Apparently THAT'S where they went!
The Athearn B&LE boxcar there was one of my first Athearn blue-box cars, except I recently read that the B&LE boxcar was only released as part of sets produced for Cox by Athearn, never individually, which makes them rather hard-to-find.
Apparently I left my browser open with this all typed a few days ago but forgot to hit "post new reply", sorry

PRR 4800-
Cool to hear about the Carstens Car! (I see that RMC has been picked up by another publishing company.)
The Bessimer & Lake Erie was actually a RTR COX car, in a Cox box labeled B&LE. It was used and the couplers are missing, but you're right, I believe it was made by Athearn.
