Been wanting to throw one of these together since my "temporary" layout has a bunch of sidings. Picked up some K&S Engineering 1/16" brass angle, found a little how-to on MRH and got busy soldering.
Thanks,
Tim

That would be easy to add a red led to the top of as a warning light. No wires needed.
Looks good.

Wow, yes, it would be super easy, if you used a 12v LED with a built in resistor. And since track polarity is standard, if you hooked it up the right way it would turn red when locos were headed for it, off when they were headed away. :)

micro, natural or artificial?
AP, I was thinking of adding one. I need to find one w/a built in resistor. I have a bunch of small ones scavenged from electronics, but none w/ a built in resistor. Ideally, I'd like to make it blink. But that would require a 555 timer or similar. I could place it all below the ties and run some small wires up inside the plastic upright. Hmmm...

That's pretty cool Tim. I'd like to see some photos of your finished illuminated bumper.

If you use a natural sponge, you won't be able to include the "no sponges were harmed in the making of this layout" disclaimer. Remember: sponges are people, too.

That stands to reason, because some people are sponges.
