My BOTW is a holdover from the original purpose of this layout, which was to be part of the WV Dept. of Agriculture exhibit at the 2011 State Fair - a Farmers' Market. I forget who made the kit, seems like it was Life-Like.

Well I really didn't pick up on any cobwebs or dust Jerry. I think dust adds to the effect (weathering and all); cobwebs . . . maybe not so much.

My BOTW is one I just got, hopefully to add to a sports themed diorama one day. A nice hamburger stand, will work with any venue I hope to use - race track, ballpark, flea market, etc. Just got it last week.

Yes, that is a plane crashing in the background. The cathedral was done by one of our veteran members, the talented Jose Enrique, my only contribution was to photograph it. I believe the cathedral dates to the early 1990's, and the plane is someone else's weird humor, although I am hardly one to complain. The cathedral also plays bell music or something, but it has been a while since anyone has been able to crawl under it to check the sound system. Vantage point from the opposite side. Mantua GP 40

** About this station and how I got it.
* As with some things I do.
** A story.
* * I looked at this building quickly the first time, as I raced through the aisles before the train show opened. A older couple who always have the same 2 tables on the end of the 3rd and 4th aisles off of the main aisle coming from entrance door had it on top of some other train boxes, higher up, easy to see. With everyone looking down at the HO and N locos and cars, they had on the their table, I for my reason was looking up and glancing only down. I was impressed by this building full of neat little do dad's of arcaticture throughout the building. I went on my way leaving this to memory as well as a pair of interesting blue Mantua kit boxes from the late 40's and early 50's noticed also in the same glance. I did my business and returned to the show floor, stopping at the couples table for another look. I seen a high price on the building as I visually took in the all the roof peaks, towers, extended window sections, dormers, recessed entrance, extended circular track viewing room built out over the platform, tucked as a large dormer under and out from the lower edge of the sharp pitch of the roof. Just too much money for me. I picked up the two Mantua blue boxes. I seen they were a old time baggage and a coach in the metal (brass) line. I received a price of $5. each and quickly purchased them running away back to my table, to check them out. Little consolation to the fact that I really wanted the station. * I came back a few times looking for other railroad goodies and to view again this remarkable station throughout the 2 days of the show. The price didn't change! At my last trip around the tables on Sunday to see if I missed anything, that was cheap. There was the station . I asked to hold it to see it better. A request that was granted. I knew it was still too much to get. I got the attention of the husband and made a much reduced offer for the station. The wife jumped in with a remark about him always selling everything to cheaply, as she had earlier on Saturday, when I got the Mantua cars. I think this remark caused a price drop which allowed for my purchase of the station. ( as it probably did also for the cars ) You know if her reaction was more pleasant and less of a direct challenge to her husband she would have gotten her way, and I would have gone home without the station, and also the cars. So my purchase of this station was due only to a lack of a polite response to my offer, from someone I wasn't talking to. To this, I will end, " Win a few, Lose a Few ". This time I won . It doesn't happen often ! frank

Shaggy, and chops, sorry to get back with such a late response to your intuitive responses. It has made me think. The old wheels are turning and due to age, grinding. * I think of them as movable, decorative, water towers. Items placed momentarily on the layout that, may, or may not, enhance the present view, depending on the viewers perspective. Not meant to, insult, or suggest anything. This done while offering the photographer, my self, a pleasant liquid refreshment, from time to time. As I work through the grueling process of making a photographic record of this, in my life's, historic event. * Shaggy, chops, it is always nice to converse with you. Frank
