I know this is pushing it a bit, but no one else is stepping up. That's Myrtle's Whistle Stop Cafe in the background, a most generous trade from Raysouthernpac shortly after I got onto the Forum.

Isn't that one of those Christmas village things? If so, they can definitely work pretty good on model railroad layouts. For example, I went to this guy's house that had a G scale layout (I have a whole thread on that) and he had a couple of Christmas village buildings on his layout. Pretty neat idea, actually. I might actually consider doing something like that in the future.

Part of the Hallmark "Sarah Plain and Tall" collection. I have the church on my layout, as well as a couple of the houses. There's a cool depot in the set too. All the buildings in that set are HO scale and great quality in my opinion. They turn up at yard sales and flea markets for cheap.

I thought I've seen one of these things before. Wouldn't be surprised.

Here is my Hallmark church on the layout. I tried to 'de-Christmas' it a bit where it had stuff around the door, and give it a little weathering. I also gave it a cross on the steeple, Hallmark produced it with a simple pole with a ball on top :

Here are a couple of houses from the Hallmark set. They are identical, but I painted one another color.

Jerry, That gold cross really dresses up the steeple. What's the building out back with the barred door and tile roof?

Thanks sshaggy, the 'outbuilding' is a leftover item from another building. I thought the church caretaker needed a place to store the lawnmower and stuff.

Jerry, it's always fun to see what you've posted in the buildings section. Lookin' good. And now it's time for the congregation to get together for the hangin' of the greens!

Cool shot Jeff, with the café in the background and the depth of field really making those crossing lights "glow". But . . . you may have thought I missed the best part . . . I didn't . . . it's the plastic tub above the fall foliage!

Barry, I find it very gratifying to see what my humble loaf pan has inspired. First, your understated yet oh-so-right foam meat tray....and now Chops with the giant plastic Mount Tub. What could be next??

Jerry I could not agree with you more. I love those buildings. What you did with the houses I did with the stores. It is not that they are Christmassy but you don't see all those decorations on regular stores during the year. So I remover the Christmas stuff. The only one I am missing is the house you have a pair of. I'll find one. I did the same with the station. frank

My wife found this at an antique mall for I think $18. I think it's all there but I'm not sure; the major components are there though.

I find it interesting what's on the box sides:

I think I've seen some of these before!
