My COTW is something I got at the last train show for $7. Any time I see a passenger car laying there complete for under $10 I'm interested! Looking closer, I was hooked - I have not been able to remove the roof yet, but inside there is a complete hand-made interior - one end has tables and chairs, the other bedrooms - so it appears to be some type of lounge/sleeper. Lots of added underbody details. At any rate, someone but a lot of time and effort into constructing this freelanced railroad piece.

Nice one, JNXT. It's not everyday you see coaches go for that cheap. Anyway, my COTW is a 1980's(?) Model Power box car in Southern Pacific livery that I got at a train show a week ago.

Another car I picked up in a lot at a train show. Cost for this car .75 cents. It is a Libby's famous foods billboard car. There are no markings as to the maker, but I believe it is an Athearn.

Jerry, I'm also strangely drawn to passenger cars, especially the metal ones. Another slippery slope. My car this week, an AHM ore car, well, nine of them. Evan

It was a box of cars that you could pick what you wanted. 8 cars for $5.00. Yes, I did get some good ones.

It has to be someone's personal freelanced railroad. I Googled it, hoping I could find a link either to a real railroad or maybe someone's personal website - but came up empty. So I imagine somebody had his own railroad empire and as is the case eventually - it became part of an estate sale, with the history lost forever. I'm keeping this one as it is, it fires my imagination every time I look at it - and the B&T will join my Amtrak 'rainbow era" consists and maybe a fall excursion train

My COTW is a real toy lovers dream - a Kaybee boxcar. I just sold my only boxed K-B a month ago to my co-worker who wanted one badly, and what do I run across, but another one. So I now have another boxed one (for me).

A Bobber made by Mantua this time around

I really need to dust that display case, ,anyways if you look carefully you will see the word Mantua on the bottom. plus this the only bobber I got with a bottom like this one, which is why I took the photo,,any best guesses how old this one is ?

I actually saw one of these in "Little Trains" livery with no couplers for $3 at the last train show. Why didn't I get it? I have no idea. Nice caboose though.

If that loop-and-hook coupler is original to it, probably mid-50's. Nice find.
JNXT: Cool car! I too am a sucker for passenger cars. I've seen some passenger cars like that (AHM I believe) where the roof is removed by unhooking little plastic clips on the bottom of the car. I've also seen cars where the roof has been glued on however...

My second offering this week, a box car that I found in a box with another car. This was available from Canadian Railway Modeller Magazine in 1990 to celebrate their first anniversary. It is one of only 250 produced.

I saw that Little Trains caboose at the show I went to on Saturday, unfortunately the guy wanted $10 for it( had the original Mantua box with it, though ). I had never seen that one before, not even the one labeled Tyco. I just didn't want to pay that much for a Bobber. Oh well.

Cheez: yeah it is a Rivarossi (same as AHM) but unfortunately whoever rebuilt this gem decided to do away with the clips! So I was faced with prying it off somehow, but the thing is on tight. I decided, "you know, I think I'll keep the look"
