I got started in trains back in the late 50's when I received my uncle's old Lionel set from the 40's. My first "new" set I received in 1960, an American Flyer Old Time 4-4-0 set (wish I still had that one). I was in and out of the hobby until the 80's, when I was out of the house and on my own. I've finally returned to it for relaxation as I am getting ready to retire. I did restoration/repair on locomotives between the late 80's and thru the 90's to keep myself up to date. I work on/collect Rivarossi, Pocher, Mantua and Tyco old timer steam locomotives and Mantua, Tyco and Roundhouse old time rolling stock/passenger cars. I prefer the pre 1900 era trains.

Welcome to the forum, oldtimer. As with everyone who joins, I look forward to seeing what you'll post.

"A lot of modellers out there who go to these train shows see broken HO stuff and go, 'This is useless' when, in reality, they can still be used for modeling whether it's as a prop on your layout or a cool project to make something old new again."
