At last I got off my butt and enrolled. I believe I have some interesting items to share on the forum. I've been "lurking" , as CatfordKen so elegantly put it once, for a number of years. When I read that, I felt I should go wash my hands or something. Anyway, happy to be here, and once I figure out the photo posting dos and donts, I'll show some of my stuff. A good friend runs a train shop here in Victoria, specializing in estates and collections. Anything he deems unworthy to sell in his shop seems to find it's way to me. Some need work, and are considered "projects". Others he feels just belong in my collection. Poor me! I also do repairs and tune-ups for a lot of his new intake, so I'll show some of my "Repair Roster" stuff, much of which I could never afford. And yes, I did start out with Tyco in 1969.

Welcome aboard Evan!
Lets see some pictures of your trains! All doos and no don't there. If it is a single car, engine, set, building or accessory, post it in the respective COTW, LOTW, SOTW, BOTW, or AOTW forum. Otherwise, you're pretty safe to post anything else in the "Loose Ends" Forum. Everything else is pretty self explanatory!
Let's see some pictures!!

Thanks, Sean The dos & donts I meant are picture size, res. etc. I noticed once in a while that a picture is HUGE, and I want to avoid that kind of blooper . We'll see what happens. I think a mystery to solve would be a good first post.

Welcome to the forum, Evan. As for the pictures, I usually put the resolution at 72 pixels/inch. I also tend to put my photos at 600 by 800 pixels. I learned that the hard way. Take a look at my introduction post under the name "Hello!" and you'll see what I mean. It'll probably be helpful for you too.

Hi, Evan, glad to have you on board with us finally. I'm not sure how others format their pictures, but I use a very old software called Vueprint, it can modify, resize, and even change formats, too. I've been using it for well over 10 years, maybe 15. Still does great. Most modern cameras or smartphones make the pictures huge, 2 to 5 MB, by resizing down to 800 x 600, it's usually under 200k in size then. Much more digestible here in the smaller size!
I also work at a model train store/shop part time, and get some great deals, and unusual stuff on occasion when the boss, as you say, doesn't feel something is worth selling. Can't wait to see some of the stuff you have ( and worked on ). I've worked on gauges from N to G so far, installing decoders, doing repairs, etc. Still have a lot to learn, haven't been there quite a year yet, but it's been educational. I love it! See ya 'round the Forum, then.
