One of my last major purchases, I found this Tyco Bi diesel in an AHM box, has metal railings, and looked pretty good. Guy was selling it for someone else, I paid $20, hope it runs! I figured the metal railings alone would make up the price.

| Another nice piece, Jerry! I had that engine in the 70s. I may have something from it in my junk box...

Dude! That's the famous "illegal" bicentennial loco!
just me Ray... and just because I have Tyco doesn't mean I am not a model railroader

He's right; that's the full presidential seal. Looks like you got a bargain.

Decided this morning, while the wife is away at work, to pull down my Stairwell "layout", and add a brace, notch a corner to clear the doorway molding, and get the steel track at the back nice and clean, where the loco's stall all the time The layout was choked with engines and projects, I intend to relocate them all somewhere else, and keep my 4x4 layout free of clutter ( I hope! ). Getting it off was a strain, but I managed. Got it outside, and added a 1x4 brace to a side that was sagging. Also added a hook to use to hold on it so it wouldn't fall ( uh, that didn't work out so well, details later ). I dusted it off, cleaned the track well, then I brought out a power pack, and tested the engines I'd bought at the Auto flea yesterday. All 3 HO engines ran, but the two Tyco needed wheel cleaning before they'd run. After that, they started to move, and once moving, smooth out. I took the layout back upstairs after the run-in tests were over, and was trying to finagle it in place, when my layout prop popped out, and down the stairwell it went! Broke a picture off the wall, knocked a few trophys down, but no other damage. Whew! Huffed it back up the stairs, and used the prop in a different way, this time I got it slid out to the far wall bracket, then tilted the layout corner to corner to get the nails to engage the bracket holes. Success! Locked in place again. The notch I cut in one corner clears the doorway molding now, so the layout isn't at a slight angle anymore, and all 3 nails at the far wall are in the bracket. Maybe another time, I'll add two long boards to each side, and use those to slide the layout on and off. Just thought of that idea.

I then added some buildings and road asphalt to it, and will add some road vehicles later. Think I'll do all-AMC first. So, now I gotta figure out where all the stuff that was on TOP is going to go. Yeesh. More fun. But, I need to do a better job of keeping my only layout cleaned off, so I can use it. I was thinking of trying to do some painting and detailing, but decided I've got enough else to do today that I will just get it braced, cleaned up, and usable for now. Ok, lets see if I can link a YouTube video of the Bicentennial loco running.
Hope this works!
