Just to let you guys know 8 days ago I had to have major open heart surgery ( heart valve). Took nine hours and 3 restarts of my heart, but I got through it. Now am weak as a newborn kitten and can't do much of anything, but will eventually recover. Have to put a lt of things on hold, but not my friends here on the forum

Leo, I hope you recover quickly! My wife had emergency open heart surgery when she was only 45. Hope you feel better soon...

Prayers up for a speedy recovery. Glad you made it through the surgery okay - that's the hardest part. My dad had to have his heart valve rebuilt (who knew they DID that?!?) about five years ago, and he's ticking along just great! Today is my parents' 50th wedding anniversary - so there are a lot of things to look forward to.
Your recovery will take quite a while, but it really is possible to get back to absolute full steam! Just do not ignore any symptom - get to the doctor QUICK if you feel out of whack.
Did they replace or rebuild it? How long was the surgery?

Thank you to all my friends. Just got back from the doctor and every thing is healing good. As some of you know this is not my first dance. I had a stent 20 years ago, a bypass 12 years ago and now a valve replacement. Doc says I can't do anyting for 3 more weeks. That sadly means working on my trains too. All I can do is sleep and watch stupid TV. I have been blessed with wonderful neighbors who helped put the garden to bed and get my home ready for winter. I have a wonderful lady, who constantly hovers over me and takes good care of me.
