More "junk" to post this week. Was working on this Atlas engine, has a custom N&W paint job, only thing is, it's missing the truck axle retaining plate/sides. I've got all the axles for it, I think, maybe missing the gears that run in between the axles and power, I'm not sure. At any rate, without axle covers, it's moving nowhere soon on it's own. I need to do more research on it to find out what model it is, and then see if I can locate the parts to get it moving again.

Actually Walt, if you mount a couple of skids or boards on the untrucked end, you'd have the perfect loading ramp!
Somebody's COTW posting could attest to that!

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Ok, thanks for the ID. Gonna see if I can find power truck parts for it online. I'll get around to the dullcoat when it's running again.

Oh, I think this is fun enough, I'll keep posting stuff. I have so much project material, aka "junk", that I could post for a decade, probably. LOL! At least my wife would tell you that, anyway. It will continue.

My JOTW offering is a small lot I just picked up. It has several pretty junky locomotives in various states of dis-repair.

You're not seeing things Microbusss, that's actually a Pacific Electric trolley.

As someone else commented, I hesitate to call anything I have 'junk', but this is the current Dead Line. A couple DD40 front ends, parts of F7 shells, other chassis-less shells....some reefers that I got tired of messing with...a 89' tri-level auto rack......a metal passenger (blue line) shell....

The marked reefers have chassis, the undec has a chassis laying in the bottom of my junk drawer I think. I removed the trucks to use on other projects.

I don't blame you, Microbuss. By the way, did it actually come with that caboose or was it sold individually?

I just place a thin layer of styrene (in this case, old store signage) over the old roof after it has been filed flat, then start up from there. In the case of a 'boose, it would only require cutting a new hole for the cupola, then fitting it.

...you can see in the bottom pic how I replace missing pilot steps as well...
I don't have junk, just models awaiting final stages of reassembly--some waiting a bit longer than others.

Shaygetz, are saying to cut the cupola off, put styrene on each side of the walkway than glue the cupola back on and paint?

NOTICE - I think Walt hit upon an excellent phrase when he posted in the 2nd JOTW thread. I think instead of calling this Junk of the Week, it will henceforth be known as Junkbox of the Week, emphasizing that it's the box that is meant for junk, but that what is inside it is not necessarily truly "junk". Yet. A little difference to our project material that may not be quite ready for the trash-heap just yet. And a little more respect for the items posted. All in favor, just keep posting.

| N&W GP40 looks like a Roco, initially imported by Atlas, drive looks like the later version as sold by Con-Cor though. Parts should not be hard to find.

Yes...it would be the most difficult part. Once I got the roof on and before I cut it, I would tape a layer of sandpaper over the roof, then carefully sand in the the shape on the bottom using the new roof as a former.
